Dr. Margaret Toups is a Dothan, Alabama native who graduated summa cum laude from Mississippi State University, then earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2017. She purchased the practice in 2019 and has cared for over 2,000 patients here since.
Her dentistry is intentionally conservative. She preserves natural tooth structure, avoids unnecessary drilling, and will tell you plainly when you do not need treatment. Plain explanations, honest options, and a plan built for your long-term health.

Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. We are actively welcoming new patients and can often see you within a few days, sometimes as soon as the next day. Same-day scheduling is often available for urgent needs.
What does a first visit cost?
It depends on your insurance and what your visit involves. If your plan covers preventive care, a routine exam, X-rays, and cleaning may be largely or fully covered. Call us and we will verify your coverage and walk you through any cost before you book.
Do you take my insurance?
We accept most major dental insurance plans and file claims directly. If you don't see your provider listed, call and ask. We probably still take it. We also offer CareCredit financing.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. We offer CareCredit financing, a healthcare credit card that lets you pay for treatment over time with deferred payment plans for those who qualify. You can apply online in minutes.
What about a dental emergency?
Call our main line at (205) 655-7061. If we can see you same-day, we will. After hours, our answering service directs urgent dental emergencies to Birmingham Family Dental Services at (205) 251-8128. For life-threatening emergencies such as severe swelling or difficulty breathing, go to the ER first.
