Cleanings that keep
small problems small.

A professional cleaning removes what a toothbrush cannot reach and gives us a regular window into your health. It is the single most effective habit for keeping your smile out of the treatment chair.

Start Here

Where good checkups come from.

Most dental problems start quietly. Plaque hardens into tartar along the gumline, bacteria settle into places floss misses, and by the time something hurts the fix is bigger than it needed to be. A routine hygiene visit interrupts that cycle.

At Toups Family Dentistry, your cleaning is done by a hygienist who knows your mouth, not a rotating stranger. Courtney, Jessica, Beverly, and Katrina bring decades of experience between them, and have cared for some of the same families for years. We look at the whole picture: your gums, your bite, early signs of wear, and anything worth watching before it becomes a problem.

"The goal of every cleaning is a boring checkup. Boring is wonderful."

Six easy months at a time. That is the whole plan.

What To Expect

How it works, step by step.

1

A thorough cleaning

We remove plaque and tartar above and below the gumline, then polish to leave the surface smooth and harder for buildup to cling to.

2

A real exam

Dr. Toups checks each tooth, your gums, and your soft tissue, and reviews any X-rays so nothing gets missed.

3

A plain-language plan

If we find something, we explain it in terms you can act on. If everything looks good, we tell you that too and see you in six months.

Why it matters.

  • Catches cavities and gum disease while they are still small and inexpensive to treat
  • Removes the hardened tartar that brushing at home cannot
  • Freshens breath and leaves teeth visibly cleaner and smoother
  • Gives Dr. Toups a regular baseline to spot changes early
Common Questions

Good to know.

How often should I get my teeth cleaned?
For most patients, every six months. If you have a history of gum disease, we may recommend a more frequent schedule, or a deeper cleaning called scaling and root planing. We will tell you clearly which one fits you. For the full picture by age and situation, see our guide on how often your family should see the dentist.
Does a cleaning hurt?
It should not. If your gums are sensitive or inflamed, let us know and we will adjust. For patients who feel anxious, we offer nitrous oxide.
Is a cleaning covered by insurance?
Most dental plans cover two preventive cleanings per year at little or no out-of-pocket cost. We file directly and will verify your coverage before your visit.
